A Psalm 23 paraphrase for the family of a sailor

The Lord is my Skipper
(With apologies to Psalm 23 and gratitude to the family of the late Bill Fraser)
The Lord is my skipper, I shall not want.
He leads me to the best spots, where the fish abound;
he sails me into calm bays; he restores my soul.
He guides me through the markers for his reputation’s sake.
Even though I sail through the storms and waves of life, I do not fear.
His light, his calm presence, his firm voice – they comfort me.
While my competitors are tacking to the finish, he is cooking for me in the harbour.
He heals my wounds, and overfills my cups with generosity.
Surely goodness and mercy shall be my shipmates,
and I shall sail on his ship forever.
