Another post-retreat poem

Once again, retreat provoked my poetic side, but this time it came out when I was preparing the liturgy for Sunday. Here's the approach to communion:

It was another day, another night.

Jesus gathered with those he had called.

Ordinary people, gathered together by the amazing and transformed.

It was another day, another night.

The meal was over what was left on the table was bread and wine.

Ordinary ingredients, taken by the amazing and transformed.

It is an ordinary Sunday.

We come from our ordinary lives and ordinary places.

We come, not bringing the extravagant and luxurious,

but the simplicity of these basic elements.

As we gather to celebrate together,

we pray that these simple elements may become for us the body and blood of Christ

and we the people of God.

Amen
